Sanskrit origin of Magic Squares and Number Grids

We see many magic square examples of numbers where sum of numbers in horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions in a grid of numbers is same.

I came across an old Sanskrit book  "Ganita Kaumudi" on mathematics written by Indian mathematician Narayana Pandit in 1356.

Besides many rules and derivations of arithmetic computations, continued fractions and geometric propositions involving polygons and circles and conical sections, it gives methods for constructing magic squares of different types.

I give below some scanned pages to show Sanskrit Sutras  of magic squares and  number grids not only in square shape but Circular and other patterns.

I have uploaded all pages of both  Part I and Part II of this book on our website www.sanskritdeepika.org for easy access to this valuable information for further study.
