Dnyandeep Infotech was associated with Environmental Protection Research Foundation which was established in 1983 under the chairmanship of Dr. B. Subbarao.
We felt that Environmental Consultancy and training requires full time manpower and dedicated staff and working through college in spare time between the academic duties was not enough as the demand was more and many people from society wanted to take part in the activity.
We registered EPRF as public trust and collected the funds by membership drive. Many doctors, businessmen and sugar factory personnel helped us in our venture and gave funds for development. We purchased all essential laboratory equipment and setup a well equipped laboratory.
We wanted to inaugurate the office at the hand of then Chief Minister Shri. Vasantrao Dada Patil, however, he was busy in Mumbai. Dr Vijaykumar Shah was having close relation with the chief minister and we decided to take the foundation stone itself to Mumbai. Late Prof. M. V. Jogalekar, Dr. Shah, Dr. Subbarao and Late Prof. M. V. Jogalekar , we went to Mumbai and arranged the function. Later, we fixed the plate in the laboratory building.
We did many research projects and got grants from CPCB and the name of EPRF became famous all over India. Those were the days of maximum activity for myself, Dr. Subaarao and Prof. J. M. Gadgil to run College consultancy and EPRF consultancy simultaneusly. The post graduate students of our college helped us in doing monitoring and design of the plant as their research projects.
In 1987, we arranged a week long study tour to Bangkok with 30 Directors from various sugar factories. We conducted many training programs for treatment plant operators in Sugar factory ETP, Water Treatment Plants, Conducted seminars for farmers and officers of Pollution control boards.
We completed an ambitious project of compiling Sugar Industry Manual under CPCB grant. We also were able to get grant for errecting large scale compost preparation unit in MIDC with grant fron Dept of Agriculture.
After starting Dnyandeep Infotech company, my role in EPRF was reduced drastically and I concentrated on the Web Design and we designed the website of EPRF.
The EPRF was later became defunct and we closed the website. The screenshots of that website are given below, which speak of our work in Environmental Engineering.
We all being from education field were always interested in teaching and transfer of knowledge in between field realities and academic design studies. We thought of starting International School of Environmental Management Studies. We registered ISEMS as apublic trust and developed new website www.enviroschool.org. We designed syllabi for diploma and degree courses and did correspondence with Bradford, Australian and Thailand universities for affiliation.
Dr. Ravindra Vora, who is trustee of ISEMS, wanted to start Environmental awareness and studies along with his Nature foundation in Marathi medium for students and farmers. Late Prin. B. A. Patil and Late Dr. B. N. Kulkarni, also were with us. We got affiliation for such courses through Shivaji University also. But due to untimely demise of Dr. Patil and B. N. Kulkarni, our plan of courses could not materialise.
However, as I became busy in Dnyandeep Foundation activities, Dr. Subbarao had to continue the consultation alone and he started working independently. Still we were always connected and participated in EIA studies as functional expertts.
Now as Dnyandeep Infotech has started Environmental Consultancy as separate division and appointed directors with those qualifications, we shall start our half left dream of International School in Environmental Studies. Fortunately for us, Dr. N. S. Raman, Retd Dy. Director from NEERI, Nagpur joined Dnyandeep Infotech as Director and has shouldered the responsibility of starting new branch in Nagpur.
We are now redesigning our enviroschool.org by incorporating online education system. We hope that ISEMS and Dnyandeep Infotech will be able to build a quality educational institute for training in Environmental Engineering which the need of developing India.
