Early morning, lingering thoughts in my subconscious mind gave a jolt and questioned why we should be called retired? I got up and started writing on Retired Teacher's WhatsApp Group i haste as if that thought may fizzle out. This is the note I made on the group.
.Retired teachers have stopped teaching. Why? I think we should continue our profession as there are students who require our technical knowledge and explanation concepts which are lost in the present objective examination approach. Students have stopped studying hard and after quick solutions.

This group will gain it's reputation and shall be true to its name.
I have started Environmental consultancy at this age of 77 and still find that professionals in this field lack many minor details and techniques which are learned only through experience which involves failures also.
We should not allow our experience to be lost forever.
Though technology is new the method of study and understanding the concepts has not changed and is lacking in most spoon feeding lectures.
We should force students to learn on their own and provide our advice and monitoring.
I think all should express their views on this topic. In USA I found that our old and effective method of dedicated study has been eliminated causing great damage to intellect capacity.
I am feeling at my fault in not visualising this condition. We have to accept displeasure or ridicule from current teachers but we must do our duty not for money but for inner satisfaction to share the experience and record it for those who need it desperately. And there are many students who would welcome such move.
In the accelerated growth of science and technology, students have to skip many essential ideas and principles which make their knowledge superficial and relient on computers. Fortunately artificial intelligence has brain like s kid and requires to be trained by experienced people.
This provides us great opportunity to teach machines if our children and. grandchildren do not think our knowledge important or relevant.
I feel that every member of this group can become a successful entrepreneur if he uses his experience and trains young by assisting them financially. This much rewarding than keeping the money in bank and waiting for interest.
Atleast I have decided accordingly. I find that even in IT the fresh learners lack dedication and loose the track and get pleasure in games and social media.
Teacher is a teacher and should remain teacher all life. Be bold and do what you think correct and show the new generation the strength of old generation.
Sorry for long note. It is a spontaneous outcome of recent experience and apathy seen everywhere.

Now I give you the background of this surge in thought.
I have been member of Retired Teacher's assocation started 25 years back due to initiative by Prof. H. U. Kulkarni and late Prin. G. C. Kanitkar. Since then we are meeting every month and enjoying the memories of our time.
Two years back Dnyandeep Foundation took a lead in arranging get-together of our association. The program was chaired by Director of the College and was a memorable event.
Then we arranged Seminar on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Walchand College of Engineering, We mt many past students and tried to get ideas how we can bring back the old culture of teaching in a practical way and working with students in solving industrial problems.
Recently we could establish CISTED Foundation for doing such teacher-student interactive work for promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, we got very poor response to our efforts from retired teachers and the Whatsapp group we formed just became a place of forward messages and stories of other inventions.
Too much information and too many innovations have created problem rather than promotion. The dedicated efforts and hard work done by inventor is replaced by animation and pleasure of enjoying marvels of research. Same thing is happening in USA. On TV and Youtube we see mind boggling inventions from world over and feel discouraged to do any thing by our own. Students are kept engaged in project activities but there are no challeges or dearth of resources. The resource suppliers have grown to become a profitable business.
The industry and business also has lost value of technical knowledge and has become play of economics.
The new generation is is becoming lazy, reserved, selfish and insecure. They are under stress with minor problems.
Teachers only can do the needful to bring back old eternal values to honesty, hard work and compassion and becoming happy not through material wealth but by earning respect for work.
