6. Software for Village Information System - S.E.D.T., Kerwadi.
Software was developed by Dnyandeep for Central Govt rural survey project undertaken by a Social organisation SEDT, Parbhani.
Village Information System software was developed to collect all relevant data from the village as regards income, land holding, employment, education, health, standard of living, earlier utilisation of development funds up to family level.
Development plans often do not yield desired results due to insufficient information about the present situation and real requirements of villages. Development planning and allocation of funds at District level by governmental and semi-government agencies depends to a large extent on the socio-political leadership instead of need based priority.
The project was implemented for Kerwadi village and the data was analysed for assessing needs of development.
Salient features of software were:
- Exhaustive data from each family in village was collected and analysed for various purposes with statistical inferences, charts and graphs.
- Software gave choice and complete flexibility to the user in designing and extracting reports as per requirement.
- Provision was made to summarise the reports at Taluka and District levels.
The report of survey was presented in District Collectors conference in Aurangabad.
