Anusha in wonderland Part - 19

Anusha had learned use of  graph for locating position of points.  She thought of using that idea in her magic math school.

 In the classroom of points, marked horizontal and vertical lines  by chalk in the room to make a graph and then she arranged the seats for points in such a way that they matched the crossing of lines. She could now give names to the points based on their location.

In line girls class she used the same graph concept for measuring lengths of horizontal lines and vertical lines. With graph it was easy to find length just by subtraction of locations of the end points.
 However in case of slant lines, it was not easy. She could get two lengths for each slant line, one if measured vertically and other if measured horizontally on the graph. When she measured the true length of slant line my using measuring scale, she got different answer.  She could not understand the meaning of horizontal and vertical lengths.

When she asked her dad about it, he said that those two lengths can be used to find true length of slant line. But she will learn about it higher standards.
