इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स आणि मराठी

ज्ञानदीपने इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स छंद वर्ग सुरू करायचा संकल्प केला खरे. पण शालेय विद्यार्थ्यांना हा विषय शिकविताना मराठी माध्यम वापरायचे का इंग्रजी याबद्दल माझ्या मनात संभ्रम निर्माण झाला.

तसे पाहता अणुची रचना, इलेक्ट्रॉनचे उत्सर्जन, चुंबकत्व, विद्युत भार, विद्युत प्रवाह, मायकेल फॅरेडे या शास्त्रज्ञाचे याबाबतीतील संशोधन, विद्युत घटाची रचना व कार्य, विद्युत जनित्र आणि विद्युत निर्मिती याविषयी सविस्तर माहिती मराठीमध्ये अगदी समर्पक शब्द वापरून व सोप्या भाषेत उपलब्ध आहे.

मात्र इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्समध्ये अनेक नवे इंग्रजी शब्द वापरावे लागत असल्याने तसेच बाजारात उपलब्ध असणारी उपकरणे व साधने यांची नावे इंग्रजी असल्याने त्यासाठी योग्य मराठी  शब्द तयार करून वापरण्याऎवजी मूळ इंग्रजी शब्द वापरूनच मराठीमध्ये शिकविणे अधिक उपयुक्त ठरेल असे मला वाटले.

अर्थात हा विषय आठवीनंतरच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना शिकवायचा असल्याने मराठी माध्यमापेक्षा इंग्रजी माध्यम वापरले तरी फारसे बिघडणार नाही. शिवाय इंग्रजीमधून हा विषय मांडला तर याविषयी  इंटरनेटवर उपलब्ध असणार्‍या नव्या माहितीचा उपयोग करणे विद्यार्थ्यांना सहज शक्य होईल  व त्यांच्या पुढील शिक्षणाचा मार्ग अधिक सुलभ होईल या दृष्टीकोनातून इंग्रजी भाषेचा वापर करणे हितावह ठरेल  हे लक्षात आले.

ज्ञानदीपचा नवा संकल्प -इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स छंदवर्ग

 आज १५ ऑगस्ट २०२०. भारताचा स्वातंत्र्यदिन. आजच्या या शुभ मुहुर्तावर ज्ञानदीप फौंडेशन "इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स छंदवर्ग"  सुरू करण्याचा संकल्प करीत आहे. 

पंतप्रधान मा. नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी सुरू केलेल्या " डिजिटल इंडिया" व "मेक इन इंडिया" या महत्वाकांक्षी  प्रकल्पांसाठी भारताला इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स क्षेत्रातील तज्ज्ञ व्यक्तींची गरज लागणार आहे. या विषयासंबंधी सर्वसामान्यांच्या मनात एक  गूढतेचे वलय  असते. रोजच्या जीवनात आपण मोबाईल, रेडिओ, टीव्ही तसेच इतर अनेक इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरणे वापरत असलो तरी त्याचे कार्य कसे चालते वा त्याची कशी रचना केलेली असते याविषयी आपणास काहीच माहिती नसते. इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स हे एक अतिशय अवघड व गुंतागुंतीचे तंत्रज्ञान असून ते मुलांना समजणार नाही या कल्पनेने शालेय स्तरावरील शिक्षणात  या विषयाचा समावेश केलेला नाही असे वाटते.

मात्र शालेय स्तरावरील विज्ञान प्रदर्शनात  इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्सवर आधारित वैज्ञानिक उपकरणे मांडली जातात तेव्हा योग्य मार्गदर्शन मिळाल्यास मुलांनाही हा विषय समजू शकतो एवढेच नव्हे तर ते स्वत: इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सर्कीट तयार करू शकतात हे लक्षात येते.

डिप्लोमा व पदवीस्तरावरील इंजिनिअरिंग अभ्यासक्रमातही या विषयाच्या  थिअरीवर जास्त भर दिला जात असून प्रत्यक्ष स्वतंत्र उपकरण तयार करण्याचे कौशल्य त्यांच्यात निर्माण व्हावे या दृष्टीने फारसे प्रयत्न केले जात नाहीत.
साहजिकच इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स हा विषय फक्त अभ्यासाचा विषय ठरतो. अमेरिका व इतर विकसित देशात इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स विषयाला शालेय शिक्षणात फार महत्व दिले जाते. हा विषय शिकणे सोपे जावे व त्याचा उपयोग करून विद्यार्थ्यांना विविध प्रकारची दूर संवेदक आणि स्वयंचलित उपकरणे तयार करता यावीत यासाठी "आर्डिनो" व " रास्बेरी पाय" सारखी उपयुक्त साधने बाजारात उपलब्ध झाली आहेत.

जे विकसित देशात आज चालू आहे ते भारतातही सुरू व्हावे आणि आपले विद्यार्थी इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्सची उपकरणे तयार करण्यास सक्षम व्हावीत या हेतूने ज्ञानदीप फौंडेशन या बाबतीत इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स छंदवर्गाच्या माध्यमातून या विषयात शिक्षण व संशोधन करण्याचा नवा उपक्रम सुरू करीत आहे.

Shop game for kids

Children enjoy playing shop game where they set up some shop of household goods and play roles of customer and shop owner. Such game can be made more interesting and educative if we teach them to follow all procedures  done in actual shop.

It was revealed to me while playing with my 8 year old granddaughter Anusha,, who had just learned to  do simple arithmetic.

 Initially we set up a small collection of household goods on small desk and put up a signboard for shop Anusha Stores. I gave her a notebook and asked her to prepare alist of items in the shop and write price for each item. She liked the idea and prepared a list. We wrote prices for items with mutual consent.

Now she became the shop owner and myself customer. When I asked her the price of some item, she has to find it out from list and tell me. After taking 2 or 3 items, she prepared a bill. I gave her small old bill book. She has to place carbon paper for duplicate copy, write bill number, date, my name, items with prices and she should add them to tell me total amount to be paid.

After I gave her money, she has to count and check the amount. Initially I used one rupee coins. But later, I changed it to coins of 1, 2, 5 Rupees. She was required to do subtraction for returning  excess amount.  

Anusha liked the game very much as she had to do reading, writing, addition and subtraction and gave her real life experience. We changed our roles and played this game for long time.

Next day I told her to assume many pieces of each item to be present in shop and asked her to prepare inventory list.

Now I can purchase more than one piece of each item and she has to prepare the bill by multiplying price and number of pieces.  This stage taught her use of multiplication.

At the end of  shopping, she has to  prepare inventory of remaining items and also sum up the money collected.

Then I told her how shop owner purchases items from big shop at low price and sells them at higher price. She now understood how shop owner gets profit.

All this knowledge was new to her but she leaned it easily while playing.

We elders, if spend time with kids in this way by playing games   by becoming their friend, we can teach them many things, which otherwise seem very difficult for them to understand.
