Free Education? Why not?

In India, education has assumed a status of big business. Private schools and colleges with their extravagant infrastructure and modern amenities are attracting students and their parents with promise of quality education. Education thus has become a restricted area for rich who can afford to pay such high fees. Ironically, less attention is paid by promoters of educational institutes to attract and retain good, dedicated teachers. Students also give more importance to examination success rather than learning the subject.

Dnyandeep feels that opening the doors of knowledge to all who demand and deserve will help in improving the situation. Fortunately internet has capability to fulfill most of the needs of students at practically no cost. With the spread of BSNL Broadband connectivity and availability of computers in all schools and villages, the idea of FREE education can really become a successful venture.

In accordance with the objective of foundation and to help Sarva Shikha Abhiyan of Govt. of India, Dnyandeep has launched a unique website www.school4all.orgto provide FREE EDUCATION TO ALL.
The idea is to search and provide useful and relevant free educational and informative links available on the internet. The success of this ambitious project depends on active participation of all who use internet for their work and study.
There is a vast store of knowledge on the internet and if searching is done with patience, one can find free information almost on any topic. The information includes text, images, e-books, audio and video clips, question banks, discussion forums etc. This site tries to compile such valid and relevant sites with proper categorization and ranking so that they will provide sufficient information on any topic.

What about the financial aspects of this project? Google is a sufficient example of free service with sizable financial gains through advertisements. Industries and business owners spend huge amounts on sponsoring sports, TV programmes and other events which help them to expose their products and services to large community. Education also is a need of large section of community and such a website may become a good platform for sponsor organizations.

At present the focus of the website is Marathi/English medium schools in Maharashtra and would be enhanced based on response.
